Tom Pyne and son Jim make K of C National News

Tom wears many hats. An employee of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Tom is an active member of our great Council and has helped with a variety of activities with the Council  He and his wife Laura are very active in the Pro Life movement in the Harrisburg area.

Tom has once again traveled to Mississippi to help those who are still recovering from Hurricane Katrina. Jim, Tom and Laura’s son, accompanied Tom on one trip.

“I think the most important lesson we learned from our experience was the thing that people from the Gulf appreciated most was  not our work or even our time, but the sense of hope they obtained from our presence.” Tom said. “It was an uplifting experience for all, and we came away with more than we gave.”

The Pynes worked on several projects in the Pass Christian area of Mississippi through the Diocese of Biloxi. Upon returning home, Tom mentioned his experience to friends and co-workers, 18 of whom joined him for a second excursion to Biloxi. Among those were three of our State legislators.

Tom has no illusions about conditions in Mississippi, conceding that the rebuilding effort will go on for years.  “It’s essential that Knights remain active in Gulf recovery efforts…so that the victims don’t feel forgotten.”

Tom hopes to return to Mississippi again  sometime this year. “If any member of our Council is interested in helping with this great effort for the victims of   Katrina, you are encouraged to contact Tom for details.

The Council endorses Tom’s request and we are proud to have him as a member of our outstanding Council
